National Famework Recovery Oriented Mental Health Services

Question: Talk about the National Famework for Recovery Oriented Mental Health Services. Answer: Presentation: Lithium carbonate is a medicine generally utilized in the treatment of bipolar issue. It has been recorded by World Health Organization as a basic drug required in a fundamental wellbeing framework (Who.int, 2016). It is utilized in the treatment of the hyper scenes of bipolar issue and furthermore for the support of the patients by decreasing the scenes. The side effects of insanity where lithium carbonate can be utilized are decreased rest need, discourse pressure, misguided thinking and pomposity (Cerimele et al., 2016). Ellen Hawkbridge has the central protest of bipolar issue and it is characterized by hyper scenes that are trailed by burdensome scenes. Directly, she is experiencing the hyper scene and the side effects that she introduced plainly demonstrate bipolar turmoil that needs prompt clinical mediation. She expressed that she don't feel the need of rest around evening time, her discourse is forced and slurred, misguided thinking of garments and cosmetics and her substanc e of musings are pompous and coquettish. For controlling these side effects, she was recommended lithium carbonate and this was the method of reasoning for choice of the prescription for Ellen. Since it is the backbone of treatment for the treatment and support of bipolar issue, in this manner Ellen is relied upon to cling carefully to her recommended prescriptions to keep her hyper scene of bipolar issue leveled out (Cerimele et al., 2016). The significant reactions of lithium carbonate are looseness of the bowels, unusual heart musicality and brevity of breath. The most well-known reactions of the drug incorporate sluggishness, unsteadiness, tiredness and expanded thirst (Licht, 2012). Be that as it may, they are normal and can be overseen by the drug specialist or doctor. The significant symptoms require nursing mediation and treatment. Gentle to direct looseness of the bowels is a significant reaction of lithium carbonate that can get serious relying upon the portion. The nursing intercessions for controlling looseness of the bowels incorporate urging the patient to expand the oral liquid admission that contains electrolytes and to advance the utilization of the unwinding strategy. The method of reasoning behind these nursing mediations is to supplant the lost liquid because of looseness of the bowels and to diminish the nervousness and stress that can compound the runs. The other significant symptom incorporates irr egular heart cadence which can get extreme or even deadly if the patient has a clinical history of coronary illness. Nursing mediation incorporates checking of the essential signs with appraisal of the sufficiency of tissue perfusion and cardiovascular yield and auscultation of the heart sounds, cadence and the nearness of dropped pulsates and additional heart thumps. The method of reasoning for these nursing intercessions is to give prompt treatment to end of dysrhythmia within the sight of elective tissue perfusion and cardiovascular yield. Auscultation of the heart sounds and cadence is accomplished for the recognizable proof of dysrhythmia in the patients who are unmonitored by hearing the dropped thumps and additional pulses (Oruch et al., 2014). Brevity of breath is another reaction of lithium carbonate that can get extreme with the time. The nursing intercessions for brevity of breath incorporate observing of the essential signs, beat oximetry and respiratory status and check ing of the skin shading for cyanosis. Justification for these nursing intercessions is checking of the essential signs and different boundaries can alarm the specialist and the attendant for any adjustment in quiet condition and blue staining or cyanosis shows insufficient perfusion that is a health related crisis (Bschor, 2014). Ellen has been endorsed lithium carbonate 500mg bd and it is a high portion for a lady of 57 years age. Consequently, there are chances that reactions may happen with delayed utilization of the prescription for support of her bipolar issue. Gentle to direct symptoms can be dodged by pulling back the medication or diminishing the measurement. Be that as it may, the extreme reactions require prompt administration and nursing intercession that have been examined. Since Ellen is as of now in a debased condition of psychological wellness, any symptom of lithium carbonate must be managed most extreme clinical consideration. The clinical condition for which lithium carbonate is endorsed incorporates the treatment and support of hyper scenes of bipolar issue. The regular manifestations of craziness are engine hyperactivity, weight of discourse, trip of thoughts, misguided thinking, threatening vibe and forcefulness (Saunders et al., 2016). Since every one of these side effects were a lot of obvious on Ellens nearness in the crisis office, thusly it was apparent that she has not been taking her drugs. She didn't felt the need of rest around evening time, her discourse was forced, noisy and slurred, there was trip of thoughts in her musings and her substance of thought was coquettish and self important. These manifestations emphatically recommended that she has been feeling the loss of her drugs and needs quickly set back to her prescription system. There are different procedures that can help Ellen to hold fast to her medicine and keep her hyper scenes in charge. One system is to organize Psychotherapy for Ellen that will incorporate a psycho-training segment for expanding the comprehension of the sickness and the need of the preventive treatment. Another system incorporates community oriented conversation with Ellen in regards to the favored treatment plan and evaluating the constraints and advantages of the recommended drugs with appraisal of the decency and the accessible treatment alternatives (Bauer Gitlin, 2016). Recuperation standards support legit and open arrangement and conversation between the buyer and professional about the lawful prerequisites. Learning and decision are advanced even in the prohibitive settings that incorporate security and scientific settings. Two recuperation standards can be actualized for encouraging and supporting the self-administration of Ellens drugs. This incorporates upheld or joint dynamic with respect to the hazard the executives and security advancement by considering the tangible regulation techniques for overseeing excitement (Health.gov.au, 2016). Since Ellen is in a raised state of mind and her judgment has been debilitated, this must be managed and afterward a joint choice must be taken without anyone else, her significant other Simon and the clinician for self-administration of her medicine. The other technique will incorporate joint development of the administration plans with backslide signature plans and early admonition signs (Health.gov.au, 201 6). This will be a joint choice again by Ellen and her significant other Simon alongside the clinician for early identification of the backslide if the drugs are not taken normally and structuring a help plan for holding fast to the medicine system without anyone else the board. These systems will help Ellen for self-administration of her prescriptions by planning plans and adjustment techniques for controlling her raised state of mind and forestall backsliding of the hyper scene. Common Characteristics of Generation Y Professionals

Common Characteristics of Generation Y Professionals To some, members of Generation Y, also known as millennials, are liberal, insanely tech savvy, self-expressive, confident, and open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. To others, millennials are overly selfish, narcissistic, lazy, delusional and disloyal to a fault. They are materialistic and care little about civil and political affairs. They are constantly checking their twitter feeds and seeking validation on social media.Regardless of what older generations think of members of generation Y, the truth is that this generation is here to stay, and will form the major part of the workforce in the near future and even become business leaders. Whether you like it or not, you will have to work with millennials.Question is, how do you manage them when they are so different from your generation? How do you ensure that their expectations at the workplace are being met?The key lies in understanding the characteristics that define the generation. Every generation believes it defines th e best characteristics and morals, and it is no wonder that older generations generally think negatively about generation Y. But is there anything positive thing about this generation, and better yet, how do you handle members of generation Y while maintaining your organization’s high performance? Let’s find out.WHO ARE GENERATION Y PROFESSIONALS? According to the U.S Census Bureau, Generation Y is comprised of people who were born between 1982 and 2000. Generation Y members are also referred to as millennials, echo boomers (since they are children of the baby boomers), the net generation, the iGen, or the boomerang generation. This generation grew up in a time characterized by a technological explosion and huge societal changes, so they are significantly different from the generations preceding them.Since they are poised to become the largest segment of the workforce, it would be detrimental for employers to ignore the needs, desires and attitudes of this generation. Below are s ome of the general characteristics that define this generation.GENERATION Y IS VERY TECH SAVVY“I’ll send you an email.”“I’ve shared a link with you on WhatsApp.”“Check out my business on Facebook”These are some of the things you might hear in a business conversation with a member of generation Y, and they show the affinity this generation has for technology. Generation Y members were born into a world where technology was quickly becoming ubiquitous. They are digital natives who grew up surrounded by technology such as the internet, personal computers, smartphones, and so on. Because of this, they are very technology savvy, and technology forms a central part of their lives. Many of their daily activities are done online â€" from communication, shopping, learning and entertainment to more intimate activities like checking on friends and dating. This generation also relies on technology to become more efficient at work. They are the generation behind many of today’s innovations â€" think of companies like Dropbox, Instagram, Facebook, AirBnB, and so on. Technology is so ingrained in their lives that lack of access to a smartphone can lead to a condition known as nomophobia or smartphone separation anxiety. Yes, this generation is addicted to technology. As an employer, you should take advantage of your millennial employees’ tech-savviness. Many employers go wrong by trying to prevent millennials from using their personal devices at work. Instead of prohibiting their use, encourage them to use these devices for work.Personally, I use my smartphone for a number of work-related activities, from answering emails, to editing documents on the cloud, organizing their calendars, holding virtual meetings with colleagues, and so on. Allowing your generation Y employees to use their personal devices at work not only helps them increase their productivity, but also shows that you trust them to get their work done without having to constantly monitor them. While technology is ingrained in the daily lives of Gen Y professionals, don’t let it replace all other forms of interaction. Encourage face-to-face meetings when necessary and create opportunities for them to interact informally with other employees, such as taking the whole team out for out-of-office lunches.GENERATION  Y PREFERS FLEXIBILITYJack is a baby boomer. For him, work is a very important thing. He worked hard to provide for his family, even if this meant going for weeks without any meaningful time spent with his family. His kids grew up seeing very little of him because he was always at work. The same is true of many others in baby boomer generation.Being the kids that grew up with unavailable parents, millennials have a very different attitude to work. They understand that there is life outside work. They are looking for flexible work environments that will allow them to spend more time with their families and to get involved in other activities outside of work. A good work/life balance is so important that 75% of millennials claim it is the key thing they look for in a job, according to a report by the US Chamber of Commerce.Generation Y employees are not afraid to sacrifice some pay if it means that they will have better balance between work and life, as this research by the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation found out. In other words, they want the option to adjust their work schedule to fit their life, rather than adjusting their life to fit their work schedule. They prefer jobs that give more vacation time and the ability to work outside the office. To older generations, this is narcissistic and represents laziness and a lack of commitment and drive. To millennials, however, this is simply a different way of doing things that allows them to blend their work and life, instead of working and waiting to enjoy their life after retirement. So, how do you ensure that the desires of your Gen Y employees are met when they view work as something t o do between weekends? First, provide them with a flexible work schedule that allows them to have a good work-life balance. The sixty hour work week that worked for their parents will not cut it out for millennials. To provide a flexible work environment, you can have millennials design their own work schedules by letting them choose the time they come to work and the time they leave the office, provided they work for the requisite number of hours in between. You can also provide paid time off as part of the benefits package. If possible, come up a flexible work week where each employee is allowed to work remotely for one day each week. You should also create a fun and relaxed workplace that will make it easier for your millennial employees to enjoy their work. Encourage them to take regular breaks and set up a fun and relaxing breakout area. For instance, at one of the companies I worked for before, we had a break out area with some bean bags, a sofa and a pool table. Having regular day/night outs is another great way to make work fun for millennials.Better yet, think of incorporating the Google way of motivating employees. Finally, encourage your Gen Y employees to work on their own hobbies. This prevents burn out and makes them feel that they are not sacrificing every part of their lives for work.GENERATION Y IS AMBITIOUS AND RESULT ORIENTEDMembers of generation Y were pampered by their parents and taught that the world is theirs for the taking. They have seen young entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg build a fortune from nothing in a few short years. As a result, they are overly ambitious and overdosed on confidence. They believe that there is no limit to what they can achieve. They have high expectations at work. They believe that they don’t need to work for 10 years before being given important roles within the organization. They aren’t afraid of facing new challenges or questioning authority. They want to know that what they do matters. They don’t hes itate to look for opportunities elsewhere if they feel that their expectations are not being met.As an employer, you should encourage the Gen Y professionals’ self-confidence and “can-do” attitude. Don’t stifle their expectations. Instead, constantly provide them with challenges and encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas. Give them several projects and put them in situations that require them to apply their problem-solving skills. When appropriate, allow them to work on projects with senior colleagues.Despite being ambitious and result-oriented, millennials don’t take well to being micromanaged. They want to maintain control over how and when they do their work. Rather than telling them what they should do and what they should not do, describe for them the desired result and leave it to them to figure out how they will achieve it.Brought up with the internet at their fingertips, they grew up figuring things on their own and will probably come up with a better pro cess of achieving the desired results.TEAM PLAYERSMany people from older generations believe that members of Gen Y are individualistic narcissists who will avoid every chance to work with other people if they can. Nothing could be further from the truth. The desire to work in teams is high on their agenda and is something they actually enjoy. Most millennials grew up in environments that foster cooperation and teamwork. Therefore, they are comfortable working as part of a team and prefer the sense of unity and collaboration gained from working as a team.Despite being independent thinkers, millennials want the input, support, and affirmation that comes from working with others. They also know that teamwork is far more effective that division and competition. Having grown in a multi-cultural world, they also have no problem playing a role in teams with diverse coworkers.Employers should take advantage of millennials’ affinity for teamwork. Encourage the teamwork spirit and create a work environment that emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Mentor, train and coach them as a team, and you can expect them to achieve more and better, with all of them focused on team success rather than individual success.GENERATION Y CRAVES ATTENTIONGeneration Y professionals grew up in the age of the internet and social media, where the instant-access feedback cycle is the norm. This has translated into their professional lives, where they want to receive quick and consistent feedback and guidance from their superiors. Millennials want feedback more than any other generation. They want to know that what they are doing matters. They want to be given credit for their skills and talents. They want to know that they are doing well at work.To older generations, this is a characteristic of a self-absorbed generation that wants to receive constant praise for the smallest of things. This is where they go wrong. The need for constant feedback does not mean that millennials want to be pa mpered at work. It means that they want guidance and the reassurance that they are headed in the right direction. They are looking for ways to get even better at their jobs by having their superiors tell them where they are doing well and where they need to improve. To members of Generation Y, managers are a little more than bosses; they are coaches too. They expect managers to mentor them and help them develop personally and professionally. Millennials are a generation that wants to achieve their goals quickly; to do so, they need to frequent and effective feedback to ensure that they are always on the correct path.As a manager, you should understand that your Gen Y employees want to learn from you. They want you to teach and coach them. They are impatient, therefore the traditional yearly feedback sessions won’t cut it. You will need to provide feedback a lot more often. Once every quarter is good. Once every month is even better. Provide them with short term goals and reward the m once they achieve certain milestones. Give them a goal they need to meet and then check with them regularly to ascertain that they are on the right path. Finally, listen to your millennial employees. While they might not have the experience, they are not afraid to think outside the box, and can easily come up with innovative ways of doing business. They want to know they matter to the organization. Ignoring them when they know they have ideas that could improve the business does not sit very well with them.Even though it might take some time getting used to it, make a habit of asking for the opinions of your Generation Y employees and listen carefully to what they say â€" they might give you a truly transformative idea.GENERATION Y IS NOT AFRAID OF CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUOLet us for a moment consider a situation where two employees â€" one from Generation X and the other from generation Y â€" are called into their boss’s office and given a new project. In most cases, the Genera tion X employee will find out exactly what needs to be done and then go ahead to start working the project as he has been told.He won’t question the thinking process behind the project or the suggested approach for the project. He’ll just do what is required and hopefully figure things along the way.The same cannot be said of the Generation Y employee. There’s a high probability that the millennial will want to understand why the project needs to be done, why it needs to be done that way, why it can’t be done another way, and so on.In a traditional work environment, this can the Generation Y employee look disrespectful to his boss. However, this is not being disrespectful. Instead, it is a representation of a generation that has grown up constantly challenging traditional approaches. Driven by impact, millennials want to know that what they are doing counts, and the only way to know that is by asking questions. In addition, they have grown up in a different world than the ge neration before them and therefore look at things from a new perspective that is full of new possibilities. They know that there are new and better ways of doing things and they are not afraid of letting their bosses know what they think will work and what will not. They are ambitious and want to make an impact, meaning they will not hesitate to challenge the current state of things if they think they will make a positive change. As a manger, you should not stifle the seemingly crazy ideas from your Generation Y employees. Actually, you should encourage them to share any ideas they feel will improve the way of doing things. Advances to society and business have always been brought about by people who challenged the status quo. Before the introduction of the iPhone, so called experts said mobile computing would never go mainstream. Unfazed, Steve Jobs ignored these “experts” and introduced the iPhone, starting a revolution that has seen mobile computing overtake desktop computing.T he same way, by encouraging your Gen Y employees to voice their opinions and challenge the status quo, you might chance on an idea capable of revolutionizing your way of doing business. When working with millennials, you should also learn to put your decisions into context. Instead of just saying what needs to be done, explain why it has to be done. Giving them the goal behind the task will encourage millennials to think about the task with the bigger picture in mind and come up with better ways of doing the task.GENERATION Y CARES ABOUT GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITYIn contrast to their reputation of being lazy and narcissistic, millennials are very philanthropic and care a lot about making an impact to the community. They want to feel that their efforts are making the word better for others. Actually, millennials care more about giving back to community than they care about getting a fat paycheck, according to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center.Generation Y employees want t o work with companies that have a reputation for supporting social causes. If you want to attract and retain Gen Y talent, you need to show them that your company cares about more than just profits. You need to have in place programs through which they can give back to the community. You can do this through a number of ways. You might opt to hold company-sponsored events for the benefit of the community, come up with a program that matches their donations to charitable organizations of their choice, or give them paid time off to take part in charitable events.GENERATION Y ARE SERIAL MULTI-TASKERSMillennials are serial muti-taskers. Having grown up with computers and cell phones, millennials are comfortable with doing several things at the same time. They will listen to podcasts while working out or write an article while chatting on instant messenger. If you look around your office right now, you will probably notice a Gen Y colleague talking on the office phone while replying to an e mail on the computer and forwarding something to another colleague on their smartphone.Millennials are good at multi-tasking because they have been doing it their entire life. Instead of getting stuck doing one thing, they want to make maximum use of their time by doing multiple things simultaneously. The ability to do multiple activities at the same time makes Gen Y professionals comfortable in the fast-paced environment of today’s workplace. If you have Gen Y professionals in your team, don’t be afraid to give them multiple tasks. They love the challenge of working on several tasks at the same time, and it might even help to prevent them from experiencing boredom at work.WRAPPING UPGeneration Y professionals have unique characteristics that differentiate them from past generations. At the same time, they will form the majority of the workforce within the course of the next decade, so it important to understand their characteristics so as to be able to effectively work alongside them. While it might seem like they are excessively self-centered and entitled, they have several positive characteristics that make them easy to work with. They also love their jobs and are willing to give it their all provided they know that what they are doing counts. However, it is good to note that, even though Gen Y has its common characteristics, this does not mean that each millennial will behave exactly like the next one. If you find yourself working alongside Gen Y professionals, take the time to understand them individually.

Surrealism Movement in the History of Cinema Free Essay Example, 2500 words

In the film, Alice in Wonderland, the director presents Surrealism by showing acceptable, even mandatory, mad, and rebellious characters and scenarios (Chadwick 2011, p. 41). These aspects relate to the characteristics presented by the sequence in the film, L Age d Or where the director forced the audience to adopt subconsciousness by opposing catholic sex taboo. These aspects are clear in a sequence within the film where we see a troubled young girl suffering from a strange recurring dream and mourning the loss of her beloved father (Chadwick 2011, p. 36). Upon asking her father about the dream, the father told her that all the best people in the whole society including her are indeed mad. This discussion forced Alice to accept abnormality and drove her to adopt restless and rebellious behavior (Chadwick 2011, p. 36). Just like in the sequence in L' Age d' Or, this sequence shows how surrealism movement has influenced contemporary cinema by forcing it to abandon logic. The two sequ ences demean the realist and common perceptions in contemporary cinema by negating the catholic sexual taboo and the normality in the society as seen in L' Age d' Or and Alice in Wonderland films respectively. The two sequences rebels against the position of society and religion on the free consummation of love. We will write a custom essay sample on Surrealism Movement in the History of Cinema or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/page As such, surrealism forces contemporary cinema to support modern views on sexual relationships where society and religion should support formal sexual relationships established under the consent of all parties. To handle disputes a clause called the â€Å"alternative dispute resolution† (ADR). ADR includes processes and techniques that act as a means for disagreeing parties to come to an agreement. Despite historic resistance to ADR, it has gained widespread acceptance among both the general public and the legal profession in recent years. The most common form of ADR is arbitration. Other forms of ADR are negotiation, mediation, conciliation, mini-trial, fact-finding, and using a judicial referee (Cheesman, 2010). The most effective method that will suit the needs of our learning team is the mediation method. If an agreement cannot be reached during the mediation process, then the arbitration method will be utilized. Mediation is a form of negotiation in which a neutral third party assists the disputing parties in reaching a settlement of their dispute. The neutral third party is called a mediator (Cheesman, 2010). Within a team environment the mediator would be the team members not involved in the dispute. If an agreement cannot be reached during the mediation process, then the arbitration method will be used. In arbitration, the parties choose an impartial third party to hear and decide the dispute. This neutral party is called the arbitrator. The arbitrator in a team charter environment would be the professor of our class. The arbitration process will only be used as a last resort and the professor’s decision cannot be disputed. In most cases there are no disputes that occur in a team environment because all members want to work together to accomplish a common goal which in a classroom situation means getting the best team grade possible. In the rare event that a dispute arises, the ADR process is fast becoming the process of choice in settling disputes. Romeo And Juliet With West Side Story Essays (677 words)

Romeo And Juliet With West Side Story Shakespeare's is one of the most read writers ever and his writing was so successful that not just one group of people liked it. He did this by relating to his audience using universal truths. . Human emotions are not something that change over time and they are also known as universal truths; love, hate, revenge, and envy are all examples of universal truths. This play was so successful that many other movies have copied the plot but changed the scenery. Over the past 400 years since this play was written the world has changed drastically, but the emotions and feelings in this play have withstood the test of time. This is why the movies, Romeo and Juliet (1996) and West Side Story (1961) were so successful. Shakespeare's play and the two movies modeled after it have many similarities and many differences, but one thing remains constant in all of them, They all use universal truths to relate to their audiences. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is a timeless play that concentrates on many different human emotions and reactions. Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story are alike in many ways, they were both very successful in their day. West Side Story is essentially the same play that was revived in 1961. Like Romeo and Juliet, Tony and Maria are of opposite "families", They fall in love and their love is forbidden. Maria is Puerto Rican and Tony is Irish. In West Side Story they don't get married but they do have a torrid love affair. The hate between the two groups was modernized to racism and not as many of the main characters die in West Side Story. One of the major differences is that Maria doesn't die, she is left alone. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet kills herself after she finds that Romeo has perished. Another major difference is that in Romeo and Juliet Romeo kills Paris who is supposed to marry Juliet then himself when he thinks that Juliet is dead. In West Side Story, Tony is killed by Chino (the equivalent of Paris) . Romeo and Juliet has a stronger sense of love and irony. Love is a universal truth that is portrayed similarly in both Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story. Two members of warring groups fall in love. Love is something that we can all relate to in one way or another and it will never change over time. In Romeo and Juliet both Romeo and Juliet have such a strong love for each other that they both commit suicide when the other dies. In West Side Story, Tony and Maria talk of running away and they have such a strong love that they believe that they can end the hatred with their love. Hate is another universal truth that has a strong influence in both of these plots. Everyone has felt hate at one time or another in their life. As it is in Romeo and Juliet with Mercutio and Tybalt, in West Side Story Maria's brother, Bernardo and Tony's best friend, Riff are the focus of hate. These characters could not see past their blind hatred and many others were killed. The original play Romeo and Juliet and the new movie are almost exactly alike in their script, but the interpretation of the dialogue is unique to the actors. One major difference is that at the end of the original play the two families end their feud but in the new movie that is not shown. Irony is when something ends up being the opposite of it's obvious and literal beginning and this change takes out the whole sense of irony that Friar Laurence achieved when he joined the two families. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was such a classic that today it is considered a standard. This story was so well written to please audiences that is was redone over 400 years later and it is still a success. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was also copied to make a musical for Broadway and today it is one of the most famous musicals ever. These were all so victorious because they utilized the universal truths of love and hate which are easily relatable and captivating yet timeless to all audiences both young and old, both then and now.

Empirical Formula Lab Report Essays

Empirical Formula Lab Report Essays Empirical Formula Lab Report Paper Empirical Formula Lab Report Paper The molecular formula represents the number of all elements in a compound. The empirical is the simplest whole number ratio of the elements in that compound. Combustion reactions always involve oxygen and are almost always exothermic. Exothermic reactions give off energy in heat form. The purpose of this experiment is to find the empirical formula of a compound using whole numbers. To investigate this experiment, the masses of the metal and gas were measured to obtain the empirical formula of the compound. PROCEDURE Before starting the experiment, the materials needed were gathered: crucible ND lid, Bunsen burner, denizen or distilled water, striker, magnesium ribbon, sandpaper (if needed), clay triangle, wire pad, crucible tongs, electronic scale, ring clamp, experiment stand, paper to record data. Two of each necessary material was gathered in order to conduct two trials at once. To prepare for the experiment, the ring clamp was attached to the stand at about 2/as the way up the stand. The crucible and lid were rinsed with water, dried, and then placed on a clay triangle. The Bunsen burner was hooked up to the gas line and the gas was turned on. The fire was started with the striker and the flame was adjusted o the height of the ring clamp. The crucible and lid were heated gently for 4-6 minutes until the bottom of the crucible became red. The flame was intensified and the crucible and lid were heated for another 10-12 minutes. The crucible and lid were allowed to cool on the wire pad. The mass of the cooled crucible and lid was recorded using the electronic scale. This procedure was repeated once more for each trial. In each trial, the ribbon was placed into the crucible and the lid was placed over it. The mass of the crucible, lid and magnesium was recorded. The crucible containing the magnesium was heated gently for 2-3 minutes. The heat was gradually intensified and heated for another 2-3 minutes. One side of the lid was lifted with the crucible tongs to allow the oxygen inside. The metal started glowing. The crucible, lid and compound were heated for another 3 minutes. The metal was checked periodically until no more glowing was observed. The crucible was then removed from heat and then cooled on the wire pad. 3 drops of denizen water was added to the cooled compound. The crucible was reheated with the lid partially off, allowing the water vapor to escape. The sample was heated slowly and then the heat was intensified for 15-17 minutes. The crucible, lid and compound were allowed to cool on the wire pad. The mass of the crucible, lid and compound was recorded. The sample was reheated for an extra 5 minutes, then the combined mass of the crucible, lid and metal oxide was measured. Some magnesium oxide escaped, when the crucible was not covered. The crucible had to be slightly ajar when heating up the magnesium, so that oxygen could get to the reaction. Without oxygen, a fire cannot exist. The shininess of the metal MGM turned to a dull appearance as it changed to MGM. As the magnesium reacted to the oxygen, it also reacted with the nitrogen in the air to form magnesium nitride, Among. To expel the nitrogen room the crucible, we added water to the mixture and heated it up. This would cause the Among, to react with the water, H2O, to form ammonia, NH, and magnesium hydroxide, MGM(OH)2. The NH was driven off during the heating. One sign of this reaction was the ammonia smell given off. This is because upon heating, the MGM(OH)2 would break into MGM and H2O, which would be driven off by the heat. The second reheating was so that any remnants of the of the crucible had been converted to MGM. This was also to have an accurate final mass of our product MGM. After the lab, the inside of the crucible was black. This s because the magnesium not only reacted with the oxygen and the nitrogen in the air but also with the porcelain of the crucible. The reason for waiting for the crucible to cool before weighing it was because at higher temperatures, the molecules inside are still active, causing the weight to be off. During Trial 2, the magnesium was not properly burned off and caused the calculations to be off. The magnesium looked as if it had stopped glowing, but the inside coil was not completely burned.

Emperors of Chinas Xia Dynasty

Emperors of Chinas Xia Dynasty According to legend, the Xia Dynasty ruled China beginning more than four thousand years ago. Although no firm documentary evidence has yet been found for this period, it is possible that some form of evidence exists, like the  oracle bones  that have proved the existence of the Shang Dynasty (1600 - 1046 BCE). The Xia Kingdom supposedly grew up along the Yellow River, and its first leader was a sort of community organizer named Yu who got all of the people to cooperate in creating dams and canals to control the annual river floods. As a result, their agricultural production and their population increased, and they selected him to become their leader under the name of Emperor Yu the Great. We know about these legends thanks to much later Chinese historical chronicles such as the  Classic of History  or  Book of Documents.  Some scholars believed that this work was compiled from earlier documents by Confucius himself, but that seems unlikely. Xia history is also recorded in the  Bamboo Annals, another ancient book of unknown authorship, as well as in Sima Qians  Records of the Grand Historian  from 92 BCE. There is often more truth than we might guess in ancient myths and legends. That certainly has proved true in the case of the dynasty that came after the Xia, the Shang, which was long thought to be mythical until archaeologists discovered the above-mentioned oracle bones bearing the names of some of the mythical Shang emperors. Archaeology may one day prove the doubters wrong about the Xia Dynasty as well. Indeed, archaeological work in the Henan and Shanxi provinces, along the ancient course of the Yellow River, has turned up evidence of a complex early Bronze Age culture from the correct time period. Most Chinese scholars are quick to identify this complex, called the Erlitou culture, with the Xia Dynasty, although some foreign scholars are more skeptical. The Erlitou digs reveal an urban civilization with bronze foundries, palatial buildings, and straight, paved roads. Finds from the Erlitou sites also include elaborate tombs. Within those tombs are grave goods including the famous  ding tripod  vessels, one of a class of artifacts known as ritual bronzes. Other finds include bronze wine jugs and jeweled masks, as well as ceramic mugs and jade implements. Unfortunately, the one type of artifact not discovered so far is any trace of writing that conclusively states that the Erlitou site is one and the same with the Xia Dynasty. My relationship with airplane Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

My relationship with airplane - Essay Example Therefore, such experiences ignited a passion in me to pursue a career in aviation and become a pilot. The great admiration i had as a child of being a pilot started building up my relationship with airplanes. Moreover, I used to design paper airplanes and read more about airplane most of my free time. I remember most times we could board a plane I was either having a book to read about planes or a drawing the plane I was in. This was one of the ways I used to understand and describe the plane. Sometimes, I would take a paper and make a plane out of the paper. Moreover, I would imagine I was the pilots of the pilot. Therefore, from books I had read, I had little understanding on the functionality and directives a pilot to the plane. I would fly the paper plane around and that increased my liking and understanding of planes. Some of the Saturdays, my parents used to take me to the airport and pay a fee me for me to seat at co-pilot seat in the small planes and watch the plane flown fo r few kilometres. Hence, sometimes I would sit at the pilot seat and learn the work of the pilot. Although, such moments made me excited as a child, I learnt that the moments were the source of my deeper likings for planes and pilot as a career. Consequently, I vividly remember the fateful day on April 2000 when my family board a plane to the United States, state of California for a holiday vacation. California was one of the cities in United States I desired to visit hence marked the most amazing period of my life. Firstly, the waiting room at the airport was one of the amazing places where you get to be smartly ushered in and out in an honourable manner. Before boarding the plane, I gluey stared at the plane at the airport as they land and some took off to the air. I remember at that moment, I had so many questions on the functionality of the plane. Therefore, I kept on pestering my parents to explain to me how the plane could remain floating in the air yet carry a lot of people a nd luggage. In most occasions, I would excitedly ask the waiter if he could allow me to go and help the pilot at the pilot cabin but the waiter could not accept. However, today I understand that the pilot cabin is an out of bounce zone for passenger and this rule ensures concentration of pilot to focus on the plane movement. My liking for planes propelled me to read articles and watch documentaries on airplane. I found out that there were several plane-manufacturing companies in the world. Moreover, I discovered the existing differences in most of the planes we boarded for vacations. For instance, I learnt that airplanes for personal use and trainings have a high or low wing depending on the place of attachment of the wing to the body. Biplane, retractable, floatplanes, seaplanes, twin engine and turboprop are some of the example of airplanes. Anderson and  Eberhardt explain that airplanes are in various sizes, shapes, and wings propelled forward by thrust and jet engines (80-150) . Therefore, the make-up of the airplane keeps the plane floating in the air. Wright brothers’ first airplane invented was heavier than air and this was the start of the invention of airplanes. The planes today come in various types but all of them base their functionality on aerodynamics principles. The determination of Wright brothers that man could also fly in the air has become part of my encouragement hence

Security Informatics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Security Informatics - Essay Example Sine examples of well known companies that have suffered huge losses due to cyber attackers corrupting or manipulating their data resources are Yahoo, AOL, E-bay, Citibank and Egghead.com. This effectively brings us to the first reason why firms share information regarding their security state. To strengthen one’s information security numerous organizations recognized a key factor being the gathering, analysis and sharing of information related to the actual, as well as all unsuccessful attempts at, computer security beaches. This very notion lead to the formation of the industry- based Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) which aimed at enhancing protection of the cyber infrastructure of various firms. By this mutual collaboration, despite the fact that various companies reveal information that could be considered embarrassing regarding their security state, they benefit greatly in other ways. These being on receiving end of various security practices and solution s which would result in the production of much more secure products and an increase in the overall market demand for security enhancing software and hardware. True there are several benefits if the firm chooses not to disclose information about their security state in terms of financial costs incurred post disclosure, the negative publicity that might result in loss of market shares and an increase in the likelihood of leakages by increasing the number of holder’s of the information regarding sensitive security flaws. However the firms after a cost-benefit analysis chose to share security information due to two key advantages. The first is the private firm specific benefit which aims at preventing further security breaches and future fraud losses. By spending on identifying and repairing existing vulnerabilities the firm cuts costs in terms a prevention of future security threats. Furthermore the increased amount of sales due to an acquisition of a better security reputation and goodwill as a result of these measures more than covers up the initial financial cost invested. By reporting a security breach to central monitoring the firm effectively sends a strong message to the customer that portrays them as responsible, committed to developing rigorous security procedures designed to protect and take care of the customer and a company more reliable as well as secure. This positive image does wonders for the company in terms of profitability and market share. The industry benefits are the other reason for information sharing by companies. As there is an increase in the overall customers’ trust in transacting with a particular firm it directly affects the overall market size within the industry. This increase in the customer base simply by addressing their fears of privacy and information security related issues leads to more cross selling and upsellling by companies. B2C e-commerce is also positively impacted for the very same reason. Look at the wo nders Amazon’s efforts in terms of protecting the integrity of customers’ data and increasing confidence in online purchases has paved way for numerous online businesses to initiate operations and be acceptable to consumers. There are three dimensions of uncertainty that exist in vulnerabilities. Firstly there is representativeness, which is mainly applied in order to assess the probability that an object or an event A belongs another process B. Availability of

Conditions for the Haber Process

Conditions for the Haber Process In this essay I will find out what are the best conditions for the production of the maximum yield in the Haber process, by running simulations of the Haber process at different conditions to determine the best conditions. From the Experiment I found that the lowest temperature possible and the highest pressure possible would provide the best conditions to operate the Haber process at for the maximum yield possible. Introduction The Haber process is an important Process used in chemical Industry to manufacture Ammonia from Nitrogen and Hydrogen that originate in the air. The reason why its very important is it turns an inert gas Nitrogen (N2) and a very volatile and reactive gas Hydrogen (H2) into ammonia which is a stable compound but reactive enough to be used in different aspects. Why was the Haber process discovered? During the First World War Britain Cut off Germany Supply route to Chiles salt peter natural deposits. Since the Allies (Russian Empire,  United Kingdom,  France,  Canada,  Australia,  Italy, the  Empire of Japan,  Portugal  and the  United States) has gained control over the natural deposits of saltpetre from natural deposits found in Chile, therefore cutting off Germanys access to materials that the needed to produce necessary items such as food, guns, bombs other war materials.   Germany has to find ways to produce its own hence the Haber process which was discovered in 1909 by a German chemist named Fritz Haber to produce ammonia was set into industrial scale in 1913; the produced ammonia was later processed into a Synthetic Form of Chile saltpetre Introduction The Haber process is the process that uses extracted nitrogen from the atmosphere and reacts the nitrogen (N2) gas would react with 3 moles of hydrogen (H2) gas by using a medium temperature around 473K-673K (200- 400 °C) High atmospheric pressures such as 250 atmospheres (25331250 Pascal) and a catalyst to create ammonia (NH3). Due to advancements made to technology we are able to do reaction at extremely high temperatures such as 2300K (2026 °C) and we know that a reaction occurs faster when conducted at the highest temperature possible but the Haber processs success is not calculated on the speed of the reaction but on the yield of the ammonia that is produced during the reaction. Although increasing the temperate would surly increase the rate of reaction in a normal forward reaction the problem with using this method on the Haber process is its not a normal forward reaction type of reaction but is an equilibrium type of reaction. The Chateliers Principle states increasing the temperature will cause the equilibrium position to shift to the left side of the reaction resulting in a lower yield of ammonia because the forward reaction is exothermic. N2(g) nitrogen + 3H2(g) hydrogen Very High heat, Low pressure, catalyst 2NH3(g) ammonia Reducing the temperature will cause the equilibrium system to change the point of equilibrium to minimise the effect of the change, and hence it will produce more heat due to an increase the exothermic reaction therefore causing the wanted increase in the yield of ammonia. N2(g) nitrogen + 3H2(g) hydrogen Low heat, High pressure, catalyst 2NH3(g) ammonia However, the rate of the reaction at very lower temperatures is exceptionally slow, and so a higher temperature should be used to increase the speed of the reaction which results in a lower yield of ammonia but a temperature low enough to create more ammonia than use in the reverse reaction hence we have the final equation is an which an above normal ammonia production. N2(g) nitrogen + 3H2(g) hydrogen High Temperature, Low pressure, catalyst http://www.avogadro.co.uk/chemeqm/eqm_sign.gif   2NH3(g) ammonia Increasing the pressure condition of the haber chamber causes the equilibrium position to shift to the right resulting in an increased yield of ammonia because ammonia has more gas molecules (more moles) on the left hand side or the forward reaction of the equation (4 in total 3 Hydrogen and 1 Nitrogen) than there are on the right hand side or backwards reaction of the equation (2 in total 2NH3). N2(g) nitrogen + 3H2(g) hydrogen High Temperature, Low pressure, catalyst 2NH3(g) ammonia Increasing the pressure means the system will have to adjust to reduce the effect of the change, which is reducing the pressure built up by reducing the amount of moles that can be located in the equilibrium reaction. Uses as ammonia One of nitrogens upper most important uses is in making ammonia (NH3), which is a colourless gas with a strong odour, similar to the smell of urine because urine contain some most definitely contains ammonia. The production of ammonia changes the non oxidation properties of nitrogen as the Oxidation reaction. Pharmaceuticals Used in the manufacture of drugs such as sulphonamide which inhibit the growth and multiplication of bacteria buy the removal of replacing the aminobenzoic acid for the synthesis of folic acids and minerals as well as vitamins and thiamine. Fertilizer An important usage of ammonia is in the making of fertilizers. Ammonia can be used directly as fertilizer by adding it to irrigation water because plants need a good supply of nitrogen in order to grow and which ammonia is able to provide. It is also used to produce the urea (NH2CONH2), which is also used as a fertilizer. Another important use of ammonia is to create nitric acid (HNO3), which is then also used to make fertilizer. The Haber Process didnt lonely provide the Germans with Saltpetre but revolutionized the agriculture industry with an increased yield in crop production enabling them to continue. Cleaning Products Many people use household ammonia as a disinfectant. Nitric acid-made form ammonia-is used in explosives. Ammonia is also used in the plastic industry and as a feed supplement for livestock. The dipole moment of this compound and this is consistent with its geometry, a triangular pyramid due to its electronic arrangement obeying the octet rule, Four pairs of electrons three bonding pairs and one lone pair repel each other giving the molecule the triangular pyramid shape of bond angles of 107 degrees is close to the tetrahedral angle of 109.5 degrees. The electronic arrangement of the valence electrons in nitrogen is described as sp3 hybridization of atomic orbitals. The NH3 molecules and their ability to make hyrodgen bonds explains thir polarity and high solubility of ammonia in water. A chemical reaction occurs when ammonia dissolues in water as it acts as a base acquiring a hydrogen ion from H2O to ammonium and hydroxides ions NH3(aq) + H2O(l) http://www.avogadro.co.uk/chemeqm/eqm_sign.gif NH4+(aq) + OH-(aq) The production of hydroxide ions when ammonia dissolves in water gives the solution of ammonia its alkaline characteristics (basic properties), The double arrow in the equation states that an equilibrium has been reached between the dissolved ammonia gas and ammonium ions The ammonium ion acts as a weak acid aqueous solution because it dissociates to form Hydrogen ion and ammonia. (Shakhashiri, 2008) This is why dissolved ammonia is used in cleaning products because its able to react with both and acid stain and alkaline stain meaning its an all round cleaning products even though the acid is weak its strong enough to deal with domestic stains. Explosives Sodium Nitrate is a Chemical compound with the chemical compound of NaNo3 has been referred to as Chile saltpetre before. And is produced by a reaction of a metal and an acid to produce a salt and is highly soluble in water. (Quote) Sodium Nitrate can be used as a fertilizer and as a material from the production of explosive gunpowder. Naturally gun powder is a rapid burning compound made of Carbon (C12) potassium nitrate, KNO3 and Sulfur and is used in guns because of its capacity to burn in a rapidly producing enough pressure to propel a bullet and not explode. (Quote) Sodium nitrate has antimicrobial properties when used as a food preservative. It can be used in the production of nitric acid by combining it with sulfuric acid. It can used as a substitute oxidizer used in fireworks as a replacement for potassium nitrate commonly found in gun powder. Because sodium nitrate can be used as a Phase Change Material it may be used for heat transfer in solar power plants. Imporantance of Nitrogen Nitrogen gas (N2) is often used as a substitution for air which is a mixture of 78% nitrogen 78%), Oxygen 20%, and 1% of other gases such as Water Vapour Argon and Carbon dioxide (0.03%). where oxidation is unwanted. One area for use is to maintain the freshness to food products by packaging them in nitrogen gas to reduce the fermenting of food due to its properties for preventing oxidization which can cause Rancid unpleasant odour or taste of decomposing oils or fats (http://www.school-for-champions.com/chemistry/nitrogen_uses.htm). Argon has been used as replacement for air in light bulbs to prevent the heated tungsten filament from reacting with the oxygen found in air because Argon is an inert gas but is expensive so ammonia can be reverted back to Nitrogen gas by the process gentrification to replace Argon in light bulbs and is cheaper inert material than Argon. Nitrogen is also used as a controlled storage and Transportation measure food packages due to its capacities to be used as a noble gas, to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables and is now used during storage to displace most of the oxygen in the containers http://www.igs-global.com/nitroswing/hdlg.htm, for the purpose of slowing down the reparation and deterioration of food as proven in biochemistry as in aerobic respiration 32 ATP molecules are created from one glucose molecules and 2 ATP molecules are created from one glucose molecule which is a clear sign that respiration and deterioration of food occurs at 16 times slower during anaerobic respiration which respiration without the presence of oxygen, than respiration occurring aerobically which is respiration with oxygen present. Investigation Design To do this Investigation I will be using a simulator that allow we to change the conditions of the Haber process chamber and notice the change in the yield and work out the direction that the equiliburm will take with extra options such as catalysis. Firstly I had to decide what the 2 variables I would be looking at during this investigation and decided that the dependant variable will be the yield of ammonia that I would receive from running the simulations. The Controlled variable will be the temperature and atmospheric pressure that the reaction will be taking place. Another variable that I looked at was if the reaction will be taking place in the presence of a catalyst of not. It was decide that due to the lack of acquiring two or more simulations that were able to run the haber process reaction in the presence of a catalyst The uncontrolled variable would be required in this reaction because the aim of the reaction is to achieve a dynamic equilibrium which is a reaction in which the forward reaction and backward reaction are equal in a closed environment. Meaning all variables and atoms present are controlled and accounted for. Set both simulations at the same pressure and temperature to and begin the reaction recorded both results and create a table of results and find the mean of both tables. Redo the experiment changing the controlled variables every time and recording the yield of the reaction at those conditions Create a Graph using both the mean table to display the results that where shown in the table. This Is the haber process taking place without the presence of an iron catalyst at the temperature of 300oC and 191 atmospheric pressure. Which will give me the amount of ammonia produced in grams and will be working out in percentage of the nitrogen used to allow compatibility of the 2 different simulations that one will be using. Is the Haber process taking place without the presence of an iron catalyst at the temperature that the Chateliers Principle indicates will be the most effective in the promotion of increasing the Yield. Because this Simulation cannot give the yield of the Haber process ammonia moles or grams I have to change the data received from the first simulation into compatible data. Results From these results obtained in the diagram above we notice an increase in yield as we increase the pressure of the reaction while keeping the temperature the same which agrees with the information placed in the beginning of the introduction which states icreasing the pressure will cause the equilibrium position to shift to the right side of the reaction resulting in an increased yield of ammonia since there are more gas molecules Simulation 2 (changing the Pressure but keeping the Temperature at 150) From these results obtained in the diagram above we notice an increase in yield as we increase the pressure of the reaction while keeping the temperature the same which agrees with the information placed in the beginning of the introduction which states the Chateliers Principle states increasing the temperature will cause the equilibrium position to shift to the left side of the reaction resulting in a lower yield of ammonia because the forward reaction is exothermic. And the 0.8 ( r) shows that there is a high positive correlation between the yield amount The Curve tends to show that if the pressure was increased any more that 1000 the increment in the production of ammonia may not be justified for the amount of effort that will be put into creating a haber process camber at that atmospheric pressure. The equilibrium expression for this reaction is: Keq = [NH3]2 [N2][H2]3 Temperature (oC) Keq 25 6.4 x 102 200 4.4 x 10-1 300 4.3 x 10-3 400 1.6 x 10-4 500 1.5 x 10-5 As the temperature of increases, the equilibrium constant decreases as the yield of the ammonia decreases. http://nawabi.de/chemical/ammonia.asp The results of the Ka test agree with the graphs that simulation 1 and simulation 2 provided. As the Ka increases the PH reduces towards the more acidic range meaning the NH3 concentration increases meaning for the best yield of the Haber process, industry must obtain the highest level Ka. Conclusion In conclusion the from the graphs and from the working out of the Keqi can state that the best conditions to process the haber process under is the lowest temperature that is usable because it increases the yield of the haber process in a linear regression which is a positive feedback increase in the yield of ammonia the optimized temperate was 200oC because it provided the highest yield. The other condition that was optimized during this experiment was pressure and after the experiment I found that the highest possible pressure is the optimum condition for this reaction to take place under. Because it gave the highest yield of ammonia compared to lower pressures which all provided lower yield. Evaluation The simulations that were used during this Essay were accurate enough to accept as possible theoretical yield but did not take into account of the possibility that some materials would be lost during the preparation for the haber process. It would have been better if I had more simulations and different type of simulations to check if the results I received from using these simulations were accurate or not and would increase the reliability of this experiment. The limitations to using this method were the some simulations couldnt operate a catalyst which limited the amount of results I was able to obtain and didnt factor in any cost effectiveness into the reaction. The haber process occurring in the presence of a catalysis does not affect the amount of NH3 that is produced by the reaction yet it only hastens the reaction by lowing the activation energy is takes for atoms to react. This would increase the rate of reaction without taking into consideration the geometric position that theses atoms need to react. A catalyst is a chemical that is used in a chemical reaction to speed up the rate of reaction with out the compound being used up in the reaction itself, meaning after the reaction the catalyst retains its structure and physical properties it had before the reaction took place. It works by lowering the activation energy of the reaction. The iron catalyst acts as a platform on which the Nitrogen and hydrogen atoms will bind on to before under going the reaction. The binding on to the catalyst is creates a transactional compound N2(g) nitrogen + 3H2(g) hydrogen Fe http://www.avogadro.co.uk/chemeqm/eqm_sign.gif   2NH3(g) ammonia Another Factor that I should have researched was the rate of reaction and possibly to the cost effectiveness of having a lower rate of reaction over the time effectiveness of having a high rate or reactions. Looking at the effect that the rate or reaction would have on at equilibrium And working out possible ways to reduce the forward reaction to increase the yield of ammonia by adding a rate determining step for the forward reaction to encourage the forward reaction to reaction and produce ammonia but would discourage the backward reaction from according either by adding third party molecule such Sulphuric acid to create ammonium sulphate and can easily to separated by heating to 235oC because it sublimes to create ammonia and sulphuric acid and the gases are at different weights meaning using a gases filtration method and condense then separately. (NH4)2SO4(s) NH3(g) + H2SO4(g) http://image.tutorvista.com/content/equilibrium/reversible-reaction-equilibrium-state.gif Another improvement would be to calculate the H of the reaction while looking at G and S of the reaction to allow to choose the most accurate best conditions for the reaction and most accurate cost effective option for the reaction. Because the having a positive H means the need more energy placed in which reduces the cost effectiveness of the reaction but may increase the yield of the ammonia while the G which measure reactions ability to reaction at room temperature which would increase the rate of reaction and the low temperature would mean the equilibrium would shift and allow the ammonia to be created in much more yield making the reaction cost effective and maximum conditions for the maximum yield. By working out the S and H I could use them to work out the amount of unused heat which is lost to the surroundings during the reaction, after this work out which reaction conditions provide the less heat lost to the surrounding while still providing an acceptable amount of yield. Af ter working out the H, G and S if would help me make a more informed decision on which of the reaction conditions provided current industry yield and cost and work out which conditions provided either current industry yield at a lower cost or improved yield at a higher cost and ultimately work out which conditions produced greatest yield and at the lost possible cost. Another improved for this experiment would be increasing the range of pressure that was used during the simulations because I noticed in the graphs that increasing the pressure post 1000 would make the production of ammonia not as effective as lower pressures are.

Innovation of Hydrothermal Synthesis from the Past and...

INNOVATION OF HYDROTHERMAL SYNTHESIS FRON THE PAST PRESENT Traditional Hydrothermal Synthesis since the end of the 19th century, hydrothermal synthesis of inorganic materials has been carried out. It is defined as the precipitation of these materials from aqueous solutions at temperatures above the boiling point and at pressures greater than ambient pressure. This method is actually environmentally because it does not require any organics or additional processing such as calcinations. That is the reason why it has been widely used for synthesis of a wide range of materials especially metal oxides such as hematite and quartz. Hydrothermal synthesis of quartz was demonstrated several decades ago and now currently used commercially. The traditional hydrothermal synthesis method is carried out in an autoclave type reactor where an aqueous solution is heated slowly to a certain temperature and then aged for several hours or days. In the case of the formation of metal oxides, hydrothermal synthesis method is generally involve two reactions which are hydrolysis of the meal salts followed by dehydration. M(NO ) x + xH O = M(OH) x + xHNO (Hydrolysis) H O x M OH x MOx / 2 2 2 ( ) = + (Dehydration) This method is normally at around 373-473 K. During the heat-up period, the above reactions take place to produce nuclei and eventually crystals. During hydrothermal reactions resulting in materials with the desired microstructure and properties, the homogeneous nucleation and grainShow MoreRelatedWhat Are Zeolites?2215 Words   |  9 Pageswithin the square brackets) composed of 2 aluminate tetrahedra and 4 silicate tetrahedra with a total of 12 oxygen’s.
